The target audience statement is a summary that describes the group for which the JTA outline (and the employment assessment) are designed. This statement is usually placed above the JTA outline. Here are other characteristics of a properly written statement: 

  •  Length ranges from 1 paragraph to a few pages
  • High level description of duties and competencies of profession
  • Prerequisites needed for entry into the profession (Education, Experience, Training)
  • Describe duties and competencies of related professions which are NOT performed

Here is an example target audience statement for ISA's Certified Automation Professional® (CAP®

Automation professionals are responsible for the direction, definition, design, development/application, deployment, documentation, and support of systems, software, and equipment used in control systems, manufacturing information systems, systems integration, and operational consulting.
