Coming soon to ExamDeveloper

Removal of assets tab from add/edit section page

Available from1906 (approximately June 2019)
Rollout paceFull rollout - users will have immediate visibility as a result of upgrade
Last updated

In order to streamline the number of different types of exhibit functionality within ExamDeveloper, the ‘assets’ tab on the add/edit section page will be removed.

Any asset tab data on any existing sections (including draft, published, etc.) will be permanently deleted from ExamDeveloper.

It is recommended that users wishing to add or remove assets as split screen exhibits on their items use the question batch edit functionality as an alternative.

Item Attributes in Advanced Properties

Available from1906 (approximately June 2019)
Rollout paceFull rollout - users will have immediate visibility as a result of upgrade
Last updated

With this change, new attributes will be added to the Advanced Properties tab of the item.

  • Enumerated
  • Response Required
  • Response Confirmation
  • No Response Confirmation

All these attributes will be configurable in the project Configuration settings. The attributes will be in the QTI <item> and <itemprocextension> elements. They can be exported in XLS and JSON reports. These properties can be batch edited, and they can be imported via XLS and XML.

For DT Item Bank items, Enumerated, Response Required, and Response Confirmation attributes in QTI will come from the Build QTI page.

Previously you could only set the enumerated attribute at the section or DT item level. With this change, you can now set the enumerated attribute at the item level.

Custom report updates

Available from1906 (approximately June 2019)
Rollout paceFull rollout - users will have immediate visibility as a result of upgrade
Last updated

The following JSON data will be exported in an improved format.

  • All advanced item properties (such as title, enumerated, shuffleResponse, etc.) will now be grouped inside a new element - advancedProperties, and no longer be extracted as a string.
  • The calculatorType property will now have a meaningful value instead of numbers e.g., “calculatorType”: “Standard & Scientific” instead of “calculatorType”: 12.
  • The following item properties: shuffleResponse, minimumResponse, maximumResponse and ToolbarType will also be changed to meaningful values instead of numbers e.g., “ToolBarType”: “EditOnly”.
  • In Project.json, the reviewConfigurations element (which is always null at the moment) will be populated with review workflow details of that project.

For all custom report formats, it will also be possible to extract the following additional validation data:

  • “Is there only one correct answer?”
  • “Is there at least one verifiable reference?”
  • "Is the question classified to the correct exam blueprint section?”

"Written by" information on User Tracking tab

Available from1906 (approximately June 2019)
Rollout paceFull rollout - users will have immediate visibility as a result of upgrade
Last updated

Currently the User Tracking tab on various ED screens like Examine Questions, Question Summary, etc., does not include Written by details. The only way to see the original item author is to look at the History tab and find the Author of the first Revision. After this change, a Written by row will be added to the User Tracking tab as depicted below.

Manage Item Bank: Ability to hide or show Archived projects

Available from1906 (approximately June 2019)
Rollout paceFull rollout - users will have immediate visibility as a result of upgrade
Last updated

Currently archived projects are always listed on the Manage Item Bank → Projects screen, without any option to toggle them off. When users want to view non-archived projects only, then this makes browsing through the projects list cumbersome and time consuming.

To help with this and have a better user experience, after this change, archived projects will not be listed on this screen by default. There will be a check box - Show Archived, giving users the ability to toggle listing of the archived projects in projects table.

Manage Users page

Available from1906 (approximately June 2019)
Rollout paceGradual rollout - users may gain visibility over several releases
Last updated

For managers with many users to activate and deactivate on the manage users page, we will be introducing the ability to paste (e.g., from Excel) a space delimited list of:

  • Names (first or last)
  • Usernames
  • Email addresses

This will enable managers to search for multiple users at once, so they can batch activate or deactivate them.

To accommodate this change, the Manage Users page grid will be updated slightly by:

  • Separating the full name column into separate first and last name columns, which will be independently sortable and searchable.
  • Moving the impersonate button into the More menu.

An additional Export results button will also be added to enable users to export the data in the grid to a spreadsheet.

Translate Questions permission and Translate Assignments

Available from1909 (approximately September 2019)
Rollout paceFull rollout - users will have immediate visibility as a result of upgrade
Last updated

Currently ExamDeveloper the only way to give a user translator permissions is to assign them as Project Manage. This gave them too many permissions that could include editing the original item along with all other items. To avoid this we are enhancing DexamDeveloper so that Translators can create translated items without full permissions to the application. With the enhancement:

  • A new Translate Questions permission is added to the Create Roles page.
  • Project Managers will be able to:
    • Create Translator roles with this new permission and assign it to various users.
    • Create Translate assignments for the translators - who can work on specific translate assignments.
    • Configure email notifications for Translate assignments and allow translators to view their translated (submitted) items.
  • Translators will see a new Translator tab on the ExamDeveloper landing page and a new Translate link under the Develop Questions tab.
    • Translator users will be able to do translation using the Side-by-side translation page similar to what they are currently using.
    • Based on the project settings, translators will have access to their translated items.
  • Translate assignments will work similar to Write, Review, and Validate assignments.
  • After this change Project Managers will not have the ability to perform Translate Side-by-Side from the Manage → Project Bank page. In order to perform the Translate Side-by-Side action, users must be assigned the Translate Question permission and they must be assigned a Translate assignment.

Legacy custom report retirement

Available fromTo be determined
Rollout paceFull rollout - users will have immediate visibility as a result of upgrade
Last updated

By introducing the most recent custom report available to Project Managers on the Manage → Reports page, we are left with three older custom reports that have now been surpassed and are due for retirement. We will be removing the following three custom reports from ExamDeveloper:

  • Question Data
  • Question and Statistics Data
  • All data

Project Managers who are still working with these reports should switch to the custom report available at Manage → Reports (in the Custom Reports tab).
